The neurologists spent yesterday the 16th trying to get a date from UCLH for the PEG with GA (general anaesthetic) operation, but answer came there none.
3.30pm they came up with a plan. Discharge me. They said they probably wouldn’t get an answer till next week, and the answer could be that we’ll have to wait for weeks or months to do the operation, so there was no point in me staying in National Hospital for Neurology any longer. By me leaving there the Covid test I took nine days ago would be invalidated, but they will do another one whenever I’m readmitted.
So I got back home last night with strict instructions to be a good boy, not to get the virus, and to be ready for a third operating table at some point in the future.
And London goes on High Alert Level from today, so there’ll be very little socialising.
Marvellous! Back to my own bed! No snorers! No 03.30 beeps! No 06.30 blood pressure checks! Drama, or melodrama, over …. for now.
I’m glad you are back at home. Thinking of you with much love,
Bethany
Well David, you must be glad to get back home though no doubt disappointed with the way things turned out. With so many friends sending good vibes hope it will not be too long before you get your surgery so you can find everyday life more comfortable. Take care. With much love. Valerie
Am so sorry that you will have to wait for the surgery. Meantime, keep getting the nutrition in somehow…..I hope you have some special people coming in to keep an eye on you and helping you out. I wish I was a bit nearer, so that I could come in and do my “Bullying Ward Sister Act”.
Thinking of you every day…….big hug.
David, how intensely frustrating for you – let’s hope they come up with a date fast. In the meantime stay strong and sending you all our best wishes
Hope home is the haven it should be and you are getting the TLC you deserve. The Blog should be compulsory reading for all those wingers and moaners who complain about having to wear a face mask. Much love and distanced hugs x
Pleased to hear you are home safe wish l live near so l could offer some help thinking of you everyday XXX
Hope you are as comfortable as possible at home. We agree with Sue: you are an absolutely brilliant example to us all. Wishing you well, and thinking of you as always. X
So very sorry to hear about the delay after all you’ve been through the last few days. Personally I think they should open up the ‘Nightingale’ establishments now for Covid sufferers and keep more hospitals open for normal surgery. I hope the next few weeks go ok and that they are able to give you a op date asap. Thinking of you all the time. x
