This is a surprise. Rather weary after the exertions of the last few days so had decided to have a rest from blogging for a day or two. Knew you’d understand. Then I noticed, in the dashboard section of the site where I write these things, that the last blog, a few hours after the operation, was the 149th entry. Amazing. And of course it provided an easy short theme for today, so let’s do it.
We’re 150. Those who’ve read from the first entry on April 1 will remember that I wanted to post something every day. It was a challenge and I was nervous about getting to 40. Made it, and then decided to try for 75. Got there, and then opened the Comments facility – and thank you again for using that in such a supportive way.
The next target, which frankly proved a struggle, was 100. Hit that one, and in my mind I intended to stop there. Job done. Mission accomplished. But something inside said, ”Carry on but for Gawd’s sake relax!”. So since the 100th it’s been every few days. Some recent dramas have helped to keep it going, and now there’s the DID challenge to take it a bit further.
So tonight, if I could, there would be a glass of something bubbly to record a hesitant hobby that has surprised even me. Actually it will be a syringe injection of a bottle of liquid magic that claims to give me all the nutrition I need. I’ve been drinking the stuff for weeks, and let me tell you it’s very bland and boring and I’m heartily sick of it, so I’m glad it’s now going in through the pipe.
Now there will be a break for a couple of days. All seems well here. Hope to go home on Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th but that’s up to the medics. I’ll certainly resume shortly. Got DID-3 to think about!
So over and out for now. Phew!
Dave, It occurs to me that, largely through the blog, you have made this a really interesting period in your life, a time that could have been so different. Thank you.
Thank God or goodness, as preferred! What a story and what quality writing. Perhaps we will have a glass of bubbly on your behalf. Hope the next few days in hospital provide some rest but I think you will prefer to be at home. Look forward to the next instalment when you are ready and also DID No 3. Love from us both Sue and Rob xx
