I decided to cheat. On June 5, two blog posts ago, I wrote about the imminent Global MND Awareness Day on June 21 and the challenge for anyone to run 21 miles before that day, even if they only do a couple of miles at a time.
That’s not too difficult, surely. Everyone does it at his or her own pace. Chris my heroic godson will be trying to do it all in one go – see his splendid Comment on the 5th. Apparently one could walk or cycle the distance also.
In bygone times I’d have been up for that, and would do it even now if it weren’t for the illness.
Hold on though. A thought. Why don’t I unilaterally change the rules? Or at least change them for me. I can get out and about, with a little help from the Peacemobile and a chaperone. Why not? Dammit I will!
So, friends, since then yours truly has been putting in the miles and has every expectation of completing 21 before the 21st. There’s a bit of evidence below. Wish me success!
If you want to sponsor my efforts you can do so via The David Peace Fund. Let us know by quoting ROLL21 in your message!
Cheating seems somehow fair. I’ll sponsor you in the Peacemobile (e-Max?) at £5 per mile. But there has to be video of you in the official orange T-shirt. The T-shirt mind, not the vest. Please……not the vest.
So love this video – not only the cinematic choreography but also that balletic handbrake turn. Beautiful. Keep rockin & rollin Dave & Tim! 😄 And lovely counterpoint of Fugue For Peace too 👌
You are SUCH a sport!! Love the video and your ‘go for it’ guts! Xx
Wonderful Dave!! Keep on rollin’ and here’s hoping you get to 21 by the 21st!! You’re amazing xxxx
If I had a hat on I would certainly take it off to you! Absolutely brilliant. I’ve a good mind to come over and hire a wheelchair and race you!
Brilliant David love the video, I love the circular movement! Go for it you have been so adventurous throughout your life and now is no different! Still got what it takes Mr Peace!!
