Hello again.   Not much to say.  Our Prime Minister’s press briefing last night alerted us to an almost-guaranteed lockdown throughout England starting on Thursday November 5th.  Almost guaranteed because Parliament will debate and vote on it on Wednesday 4th.  The Conservative Government has a majority in Parliament so it’s difficult to envisage such a measure being rejected.

November 5th, the first day of lockdown, will end with Bonfire Night here, the evening for fireworks and bonfires throughout the country, reminding us of the failed Gunpowder Plot in 1605 when Guy Fawkes and his henchmen were discovered in a cellar in the Palace of Westminster, planning to blow up the House of Lords.  It will be interesting to see – and hear – how far the new regulations are observed.

For me, self-isolating, there’s no change and also no problem.  Everything needed for daily life is provided and easily available.  Since leaving hospital 15 days ago there’s been almost no contact with anyone else, so I feel pretty secure.  And I’m grateful that they’ve managed to fit my operation in so soon, on the 13th.  Not worried.  Just hope it’s not postponed because of Covid pressures.
